Charity Chairman is pictured at the grand opening of Sher Kahn

Owners of Sher Kahn, Abi and Jayne Monnan invited 30 supporters of
the charity to sample their fayre free of charge on the night which
was broadcast live on Dee 106.3.

Eccleston recently to thank the team of work colleagues for
completing the Three Peaks Challenge earlier this year and raising a

Robyn Reynolds of Hoole was the first heat winner of X-Factor 2008
and goes forward to the Grand Final with 2nd and 3rd placed from the
heat to The Grand Final on Saturday 27th December when £400 worth of
Prize Money is up for grabs.

little Gemma Conery who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Gemma is
pictured with Mum Tracey, Dad Gavin, Sue Modern who nominated Gemma
and her Mum for this years Disneyland Trip and Manager of The Piper
Ian Whitaker.
Following last years amazing £2,200 total raised at The Piper This
years X-fACTOR 2008 which starts on Saturday 30th August will be
preceded with another cheque presentation to Miles of Smiles
totaling £3,000, well done everyone, a fantastic effort.

The Bar and Courtyard (formerly Red Lion) in Handbridge have raised
over £300 for Chronicle-backed Charity Miles of Smiles. 8 races were
screened in all and customers at the fully refurbished Bar were able
to 'buy' horses or jockeys and could place single or multiple bets.
A £5 entry fee included a barbecue and a raffle was also held on the
night. Sean McClean from the Bar and Courtyard said
"We had been looking at Local Charities
with a view to supporting one this year, when we read about Miles of
Smiles we knew we would be helping local sick and disabled kids
experience something very special so we were delighted to stage the
Race Night and plan to do other fundraisers for this very worthy
cause".

Linda and Dave Edmunds from Vauxhalls F.C., Ellesmere Port are
pictured with Steve Foulkes, the organiser of Vauxhall's annual
5-a-side Football Festival which attracted 160 teams over two days.
£1 from every player was donated to Miles of Smiles and as a result
charity Chairman Mick Hughes received a fantastic cheque of £1,350
which will be used to take an Ellesmere Port child and parent to
Disneyland Paris in September.

Mick Hughes and Brian Peers from Miles of Smiles receive a cheque
for £500 from Director of Bishop's Handbell Ringers Derek Jackson
M.B.E. in the presence of Deputy Mayor of Chester Councillor Paul
Cheetham. The annual dinner for school dignitries and invited guests
was followed by a recital by The Handbell Team at Willington Hall Nr
Chester on Friday 11th July.

World Championship Muay-Thai Boxing show "Business as Usual" was
staged at it's new home 'The Pavillion" at Chester Racecourse on
Sunday 22nd June. A full day of fighting thrilled the massive
audience and Chesters' Dave Newbrook gained his 3rd world title
after demolishing his Lithuanian challenger who was ranked 3rd in
the World at Light Welterweight.
Stunning body shots rained in on the game Lithuanian before a peach
of an uppercut under the ribs finished the job in the 3rd round.
European under 18 champ John Henry McNamara also triumphed over his
Lithuanian challenger and knocked out his opponent with a fabulous
flying knee to the jaw.
Danny Goodwin in his maiden fight defeated the seasoned Gordon Speed
but Danny's younger brother Ashley lost narrowly on points.
As always a donation from the show will go to Miles of Smiles.

day out of 19 teams and missed out on the final by a mere 1 thenth of
a second. Well done and let's go one better next year. Everyone

Celena and Claire from The Beauty Lounge, Five Ashes Road,
Westminster Park, Chester are pictured with Chester Jets captain
James Hamilton on the opening day of their salon on Saturday 3rd
May. The pair who formerly worked together at Rowton Hall Spa are
backing the Miles of Smiles Appeal this year. Customers were invited
to have mini treatments outside the store in a white Limo and
everyone enjoyed a glass of bubbly or two to celebrate the opening.

Star of stage and screen Louis Emerick popped in to Kalmora Spa
recently to help celebrate the spa's 2nd Birthday. Louis is best
known for his role as Mick Johnson in Brookside, but has appeared in
many other T.V. roles such as Last of The Summer Wine and Casualty,
he is currently appearing on stage in Liverpool in Alan Bleasdale's
'On the Ledge'.
Management and staff held a Charity Day in aid of Miles of Smiles
and a raffle, auction and donations on the day were donated to the
charity.

Over 300 guests enjoyed a Vegas Spectacular Show Night at The Crowne
Plaza, Chester on Friday 25th April. Topping the bill was Elvis
tribute star Michael King and The Sweet Sensations. A great show was
followed by a disco, buffet, prize casino and stand-up bingo. Over
£3,000 was raised on the night and Miles of Smiles Chairman thanks
everyone at Crowne Plaza for their generosity, Carl Williams of
Casino 17 for kindly sponsoring the event and local businesses and
individuals for donating brilliant casino and spot prizes.

Brian Peers and Mick Hughes of Miles of Smiles are pictured with Mr
and Mrs Russ Abbot and Her Grace The Duchess of Westminster at City
of Chester Male Voice Choir's 119th Festival Concert at Chester
Cathedral which featured the choir and the world famous Black Dyke
Brass Band. Star of stage and screen Russ Abbot, who hails from
Chester, is an honorary member of The Black Dyke Band and his
brother Stuart sings with the choir. The concert was held in support
of Miles of Smiles and was a fantastic evening for the audience of
over 1,000.

Thea Williams and Matt Carlin from The Students Union at Chester
University organised a 'Bowlathon' at Tenpin Megabowl Chester on
March 5th. Hundreds of students bowled throughout the day and had a
party to help raise a magnificent £1,435 for Miles of Smiles. Prizes
were donated for teams who raised the most sponsorship and got the
highest scores. The Winners and Runners up received trophies. A
Brilliant Day was had by all and it is hoped it will be the first of
many such events held on behalf of the charity by C.S.U.
