I can't believe I'm here typing out the
2008 Report, where did the last 12 months go? An army of supporters, helpers and
benefactors have again given that precious commodity - TIME, to help us make
dreams come true for families in Chester, Flintshire and Ellesmere Port. The
Appeal is getting bigger and better and so is the work load.
I would like to say a special thank you to Chronicle Newspapers, Dee 106.3 Radio
and Mark Scholes our website host at
www.be-on-the.net for ensuring the general
public are always aware of what the Charity is up to. As a Charity of
volunteers, we are always aware that we are only as good as our next fundraiser
or donation and that money is never easy to come by. Individuals, groups,
organisations and businesses from all over Cheshire and Flintshire have been
magnificent and it's impossible to thank them all. A look at Our Sponsors page
shows you the type of people who support this Appeal but there are many hundreds
who do what they do quietly and help us to make the annual trip to Disneyland
possible.
We will be out and about with City Limos over the Christmas period collecting
from companies and stores and we know everywhere we visit will be very generous.
This year's trip was another huge success, the Party stayed in the fabulous New
York Hotel for the first time and all the group commented on how beautiful it
was. As ever the sun shone for the duration of the trip and we have received
lovely letters and cards from members of the group. Their words sum up what the
thing is all about and make everything we do worthwhile
Well Done Brian, Johnny, Emma, Lyndsey, Jayne and Dr Heather Pearson for your hard work on the trip. Thank
you Gary for looking after the Appeal's finances. Welcome to the new members of
the Committee, Barry and Peter, we know you will enjoy being part of the Team.
Finally to Our Vice-Chairman Clive, his wife Sue and all the family, we are all
thinking of you and are full of admiration for Clive's determination to beat his
illness.
We all look forward to another year of fund raising and are confident that even
in the current financial situation the world finds itself in, one thing will
never change and that is generosity of the general public to people less
fortunate than themselves.
Mike Hughes
Appeal Chairman.
